EDMUND PENDLETON GAINES
Edmund Pendleton Gaines (1777-1849) was a soldier in the U.S. Army who served in the War of 1812, the Seminole Wars, and the Black Hawk War.
Fort Gaines, located on Dauphin Island, is named in his honor.
